Dealing with migraines

If you’re reading this, i first want to apologize for the fact that you even have to deal with migraines. I personally suffer from them and they are no fun. Migraines are these intense headaches that can cause you to be sensitive to nearly EVERYTHING! Some symptoms a migraine can cause are: dizziness, nausea, ringing of the ears, blurred vision, pounding headaches and more! The best way to cure a migraine is to get cozy in your bed, make it darker than a cave and have complete silence. Lets get real. If you’re a human you know that can be nearly impossible especially if you don’t live alone. Don’t worry any longer, we are here to help! The first step to getting relief is knowing the signs. Some people that suffer from migraines actually experience an ”aura” before the actual headache comes. An aura can be noticed when you start to see wavy or “squiggly” lines that just appear to be floating in your eyes. An aura usually happens about 5-60 minutes before your headache comes. As soon as you see this, try one of the remedies below.

Remedy 1: if possible, sit with your hands and feet in hot water while sitting a cold rag or ice pack on your neck. This helps pull the blood away from your head helping you to relieve some pressure.
Remedy 2: Ginger tea or black tea You can either steep them together or alternate them but both have healing powers when it comes to a migraine. Ginger tea can increase serotonin in your brain that may help stop the migraine because it reduces inflammation. Black tea is recommended because it is a caffeinated tea. When you have a migraine your blood vessels in your brain tend to enlarge. Caffeine helps your blood vessels to shrink back down to normal. Peppermint, lemon, and ginger can help soothe nausea as well so add some peppermints or peppermint oil and lemons to your tea.
Remedy 3: apply diluted essential oils to your pressure points. The best essential oils for headaches are peppermint, lemon, lavender, eucalyptus and tea tree oil. When you have a migraine you tend to tense your body up more. The main areas to apply the essential oils are your wrists, behind your ears, on your temples and shoulder blades.
Remedy 4: Practice relaxation. Try to make sure your body is relaxed. The best way to do this is to actually tense up every muscle in your body and relax each one, one at a time.
Remedy 5: NO ELECTRONICS! The light alone could be the reason your headache is so intense.Take a break from it all for a few hours.
Lastly, please ask your doctor if you are already taking medications if this is okay for you to add into your diet. Some medications are sensitive and cannot be messed with. Just an example, some medications are not allowed to be taken with fruit juice because it can heighten the side effects. Just be careful and I hope you feel better.
